Almafi Coast, Italy
The Almafi coast was more beautiful than I could have imagined. I was skeptical about visiting mid-October, but the weather was just as beautiful (most of the time!) and the beach was less crowded than it would have been in the summer months.
We spent our first rainy morning in Capri, where we took a boat tour around the island. We had planned to see the Blue Grotto but due to the weather we weren’t able to visit. So that’s just my excuse to go back :) As memorable as that boat ride was, I thought I was going to be tossed overboard by the waves! As soon as we reached dry land, the sun came out and we spent the remainder of the day hiking to see the beautiful views of Capri from above.
Saturday had to be my favorite day of this weekend trip. We spent the entire day in Positano near the water and under the warm sun. Kylee and I wanted to find a restaurant with a view, so around lunch time we hiked back up a couple-hundred-something stairs for bellinis and an American style breakfast (yes there were pancakes!). It was truly a dream.
Our final day we spent in Pompeii which unfortunately I have no pictures of. I was able to see the ruins from afar, but saved my energy to climb Mount Vesuvius before we departed for Florence. The hike was straight up and there was a ton of fog, so I couldn’t see much of anything at the top, but I still felt so accomplished! By the time I hiked back down, it was pouring rain and I was soaking wet for the majority of the ride home, but hey, it was completely unforgettable. What’s an adventure if you don’t return a little messy? The Almafi coast has left me with lots of stories to tell, and a greater desire to return someday.
I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into my weekend trip to the Almafi Coast!
P.S I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I am so thankful for each one of you that is following alongside me during all of my adventures this year. I truly appreciate each and every one of you!
